Virtual event: Navigating Identity, Pride and Shame at Work
You are invited to attend the first free event in our new virtual community.
Beyond the Rainbow: Navigating Identity, Pride and Shame at Work
Thursday 23 June, 1pm UK in the Minds@Work Community Space
June is Pride month, a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community. But not everyone feels empowered to be their authentic selves at work. Challenges of intersectionality, stress, unlevel playing fields, or being an outsider in a world that rewards sameness, can all be amplified when you’re feeling othered.
Join us as we chat with Quest Collective co-founder, and Dare to Lead™ facilitator Adé Adéniji, exploring how shame can manifest for the LGBTQIA+ community in the workplace - including those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds. We’ll talk about how managers can support people to bring their authentic selves to work, without shame and without fear.
About the session
This one-hour event will be broken into three sections:
Adé shares how shame can manifest in the workplace
You choose to join breakout sessions on the topics of Intersectionality, Navigating Disclosure/Coming out, and Understanding Minority Stress.
Everyone returns to the main room for questions and reflections
If you meet interesting people in your breakout room, you can always carry on the conversation afterwards in our virtual community, which is full of people who are passionate about mental health in the workplace.
Who’s it for?
Everyone is welcome to join this important conversation. We want those with lived experiences to come and make their voices heard, providing richer learning for others at this event, especially business leaders, team leaders, managers and HR professionals. The more diverse the attendance, the better.
